BRIEF EXPLANATION:

Meaning of service

To serve means to work or perform duties for a person, an organization, community or country. Service is the duty we perform or the help we offer to others. In service, we become servants of the people.

A good leader is a servant. He leads the people by serving them.

He is always willing and ready to provide the needs within his capability.

A person who serves must be humble, patient, compassionate and courageous. He must be faithful, loyal and obedient to God who will reward him for his services.

Different ways of rendering services:

As youths, we must prepare ourselves for service to God and humanity by putting our trust in God.

We also have to study hard to broaden knowledge and understanding of people and the society that we intend to serve.

While in school, we should belong to voluntary organizations such as boys scout, boy’s brigade, Red Cross, young men Christian association, girl’s guild etc. through which we can render selfless services to our community and help people around us.

At home, we render service by helping our parents. We clean the house, wash the dishes, sweep the floor or whatever duties we are able to perform.

In rendering service, we should not first consider our personal interest or what we stand to gain. Instead, our love for God and man should be the power that compels us to serve.
