GRADE 2 : COMPOSITION : WEEK 4

NEW APPROACH

WEEK/TERM: THIRD TERM /WEEK 4

CLASS: Grade 2

DATE: 26th June, 2020

SUBJECT: Composition

TOPIC: The Day I Was Sick

Reference: As recommended by Auntie Cecilia.

BRIEF EXPLANATION: Essay or composition builds up creativity in writing, self-expression, rich vocabulary, good hand-writing, good imagination etc. Children should be encouraged to write often. At the beginning, the children will be able to write on what they have experienced but as they progress in their writing, they should be encouraged and guided to write fictitious compositions which are based only on imagination. The children should be made to write three compositions per week. Each composition written at this stage should not be less than 15 lines. They should be encouraged to write neatly and handle their books carefully with clean hands and not to soil them. Below is an example of a composition on the topic for the week. The heading of each composition should be set as in the example below, beginning with writing the date, then the subject and the title of the composition. This pattern of setting up the heading of a composition, must always be used.

The three composition topics for each week must be treated on three different days.

COMPOSITION

The Day I Was Sick

The day I was sick was on Tuesday the 22nd of March, 2020. The sickness started very early in the morning around 3:00am. I woke up feeling very weak and my temperature was very high. I could not get out of bed. My mother had to reduce my body temperature by using cold water and a towel to cool my body. She called my teacher to tell her that I would not be able to come to school, because of my ill health.

My parents rushed me to the hospital. In the hospital, the doctor had to examine me. My blood sample was taken to the laboratory for a test, in order to know the cause of the illness and know the right medicine to prescribe.

The test result showed that I had malaria. The doctor prescribed some malaria tablets and some pain relieving tablets for my parents to administer it to me.

My father rushed to the nearest pharmacy and bought the drugs and administered them to me as the doctor prescribed.

The next day, I felt better and I went to school. My teacher and my friends were so happy to see me in school.
