Notes for the Pupils
First aid is the immediate treatment given to an injured person or a sick person, before medical help is given or before the arrival of a doctor.
The content of a first aid box:
- Emergency phone numbers
- Disposable gloves
- Hand sanitizers
- Antiseptic ointment
- Scissors
- Plaster
- Bandage
- Safety pin
- Pain relieving tablets
- Anti-diarrhoea tablets
- Thermometer
When dealing with an injured person, actions should be taken in a correct order that is A, B, C.
A – Airways
B – Breathing
C – Circulation
Airways
First check if the patient is getting oxygen. If not try to keep his back straight, tilt the head to open the airways, pinch the nostrils closed and draw a deep breath. Place your mouth over his mouth, continue the action until he is breathing.
Breathing
Check if the victim is breathing, place your cheek near the victims mouth and nose to feel a breath, also check if the chest is rising and falling.
Circulation
Check if the heart is beating because it enables oxygen to move around to all parts of the body.
Press down the centre of the patient’s chest hard and fast until the patient responds or help arrives.
