BRIEF EXPLANATION: – Phonics is an exercise whereby the children learn the sounds of the letters of the alphabet. This exercise empowers the children to learn to pronounce letters and combination of letters in order to build up their foundation and skills for reading and spelling. In this lesson, the children are to learn the sounds of the letters r and s. They should also lean these words which begin with these letters. They also need to learn to spell the words. Do not treat both sounds on one day. Treat the sound /r/ on two consecutive days and then introduce the sound /s/ on two other consecutive days. Do revision work on each sound and in the end treat both sounds together. Prepare a chart with all the words treated and get the child to read the words from the chart every day.
