BRIEF EXPLANATION: Essay writing builds up creativity in writing, self- expression, rich vocabulary, good hand-writing, good imagination etc. Children should be encouraged to write often. At this stage the children’s composition is called NEWS. To write their news, they begin by drawing and colouring the object on which they want to write. For example in case of TOPIC 1, they will draw and colour their mother. Then they begin to think of what to write about the mother. We had a sample composition (News) for week 1. This pattern must be followed. The children should be encouraged to write at least up to five sentences for each composition. They should be encouraged to write neatly and handle their books carefully with clean hands and not to soil them.
They should learn to arrange the heading of each essay (News) as indicated below:
