Notes for the pupils

At the beginning of Jesus Christ’s ministry, He travelled from Galilee to the Jordan River. John the Baptist was there preaching and baptized the people. Jesus went to John and asked to be baptized. John did not want to do it, because he thought that Jesus should baptize him instead. He asked Jesus why He needed to be baptized. Jesus explained that He needed to be baptized in order to fulfilled all righteousness. (to be obedient to God almighty).

John went down into the water and baptized Jesus. As Jesus was coming out of the river, John saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Jesus. He also heard a voice saying, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased”. Jesus set the example for us to be baptized.
