Brief explanation

Notes for the Students

The features of drama is that it has to be performed on stage in front of an audience.

Some features are: actors, dialogue, action, plot, audience, theme, character, costume and stagecraft.

Definition of each features:

Actors: Actors are various persons who act in a dramatic or comic work in film, televisions, theatre or radio. An actor is one who interprets a dramatic character.

Dialogue: This is a written or spoken conversation exchange between two or more people.

Theme: it is the central idea of the story. The theme carries the moral of the story and what is expected to be learnt from the dramatic performance.

Character: A character is one of the persons who appears in the play. There are major and minor characters.

Stagecraft: This refers to surroundings and various props needed to promote the atmospheric effect of the drama.

Exercises/Assignment

Write down the meaning of costume and audience.
