BRIEF EXPLANATION: These are objects and people of high importance in the country, they must be respected by all citizens of the country. We are going to take a look at the national symbols of our country, Nigeria.
NOTES FOR THE PUPILS:
Definition of National Symbols: – National Symbols are those things that unite us together as members of one country.
Examples of National Symbols.
- People :- Our past and present leaders. They include Herbert Macauley, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Alvan Ikoku, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President Muhammadu Buhari and many more.
- Object :- The national flag, the coat of arms, the Nigerian currency, the Mace, the Nigerian constitution and the Nigerian International passport.
- Other national symbols (places) include buildings such as the National Assembly, National Stadium, the National Arts Theatre, International Airports, Eagles Square, the National Museum, etc.
