Brief explanation

When rains falls and there are no grasses in that particular area, the water will run with the sand thereby causing holes on the ground; sometimes, this may even lead to landslide or gully erosion.

Meaning of Erosion

Erosion is the gradual washing away of the top layer of the soil by wind or rain.

Causes of Erosion

The following are some of the causes of erosion.

  1. Rain
  2. Wind
  3. Bush burning
  4. Deforestation (cutting down trees)
  5. Road construction
  6. Farming practices

Effects of Erosion

  1. Removal of the top soil.
  2. Landslide
  3. Potholes on the road
  4. Collapse of buildings
