BRIEF EXPLANATION: Religious intolerance is when a religious group refuses to tolerate or accept other practices, faith or beliefs on religious grounds.

There have been lots of conflicts in Nigeria because of the inability to tolerate one another’s religious beliefs, faith and practices.

Causes of religious intolerance – Listed below are some of the causes of religious intolerance:

  1. Ignorance
  2. Impatience
  3. Selfishness
  4. Ethnicity

 

Controlling religious intolerance

  1. Educating people on the evils of not tolerating one another.
  2. Setting up law and order that will make religious intolerance unacceptable.
  3. Churches and other non-government organization through their activities can prevent religious intolerance.
