KINDERGARTEN 1 : READING : WEEK 1

WEEK/TERM: THIRD TERM/WEEK 1

DATE: 27.04.2020

CLASS: KINDERGARTEN 1

SUBJECT:  READING.

TOPIC: WORDS FROM THE LADYBIRD BOOK 1.

REFERENCE: THE LADYBIRD BOOK 1.

BRIEF EXPLANATION:   THE LADYBIRD is the book series we use to teach the children to read. The series is made up of 13 books with A, B and C, That is to say there is BOOK 1A, BOOK 1B and BOOK 1C and so on. The A and B are for teaching the children to read and the C is for exercises on phonics and spelling. If a child must learn to read properly and early in life, that child must have the reading books at home, to practise. I encourage you to contact the bookshop 0813 411 2780 and get the book 1A and 1B for your child. You will have to pay for them. The child is to begin with Book 1A. At this stage, the children are to progress gradually. The words on each page should be introduced to the child outside the book at first – This can be done with a flash card or by writing the word boldly in the child’s book and getting the child to read it many times and also spell the word – Then get the child to read the page.  At this stage the children should be getting familiar with the words in the first book of this series. Getting the children to read has to be done with much patience. No child should be forced to learn but encouraged and at this stage coaxed to do so. A lot of repetition will be needed and progress will be slow but there should be perseverance.
