REFERENCE: THE LADYBIRD BOOKS.
BRIEF EXPLANATION: THE LADYBIRD is the book series we use to teach the children to read. The series is made up of 13 books with A, B and C, That is to say there is BOOK 1A, BOOK 1B and BOOK 1C and so on. The A and B are for teaching the children to read and the C is for exercises on phonics and spelling
(The C is optional and can be provided for the child to use at home). These books referred to here, are not the LADYBIRD books of classic stories or other stories – THEY ARE THE READING SERIES of the LADYBIRD BOOKS . If a child must learn to read properly and early in life, that child must have the reading books at home, to practise. I encourage you to contact our bookshop 0813 411 2780 and get the books for your child. You will have to pay for them. The child is to begin with Book 1A. At this stage, you must contact the class teacher in order to know on which book the child is, as reading at Nuevas Fronteras is done individually. On reading, the children are to progress individually. The words on each page should be introduced to the child outside the book at first – This can be done with a flash card or by writing the word boldly in the child’s book and getting the child to read it many times and also spell the word – Then get the child to read the new page. At this stage the children should be getting familiar with the words in the 3rd book of this series. Getting the children to read has to be done with much patience. . A lot of repetition will be needed and progress has to be sped up with daily practice. As the children progress on reading, include other books with classic stories and other Nigerian and African stories in their home library collection. .Teach your child to handle books with care and store them for future reference or to pass them on to younger children who come after them.
